the solutions
CONNECT with mentors and employers
Through Futures for Kids, students have access to over 800 background-checked Career Coaches ready to answer questions about their careers and companies. I'ts a chance for students to get advice about classes, ask questions about being on the job, and talk shop with someone who shares their passion.
DISCOVER where "like" and "job" intersect
Using the Career Matchmaker Interest Inventory, students have the opportunity to identify careers that utilize their strengths and passions. For a generation deeply influenced by Hollywood depictions of reality, the Matchmaker's ranked list of careers offers the extra step of why--why is this career suitable for me? Students can use this as a springboard to futher exploration and discovery, as well as identifying their personal Learning Style and tips for using it to their advantage.
CREATE career-focused graduation plans
As students discover careers that interest them and what they need to do to get there, they can select high school courses relevant to their career path. This forges a direct link between their classes and their future success, highlighting the real-world relevance of school.
BUILD a living portfolio
Each student has an personal portfolio where they can document careers and companies of interest, store financial aid opportunities, and document curricular and extracurricular activites for the Resume Builder. The portfolio grows and evolves with each student, transforming career exploration into pathways to success.
EMPOWER educators to reach their students
Knowing more about each student's interests, dreams, action plans and learning styles helps educators become true partners in career learning. Futures for Kids includes easy-to-use administrative tools for activity tracking, completion reporting, sending timely messages to students, as well as adding links, documents and assignments to their Portfolios.
INVOLVE parents in the career exploration process
Parents can explore alongside their child instead of waiting for a parent-teacher conference to catch up. With web-based portfolios, students and parents have access at home, the library, or anywhere with an internet connection. Parents can gain a deeper sense of their child's strengths and interests, talk through Matchmaker results, help with high school course selections and encourage study habits based on the child's individual learning style.
