With the American economy still struggling to recover, the number of unemployed and underemployed have never been higher. At the same time, industries with aging boomer workforces are unable to find skilled workers to replace them. Our students are graduating high school only to require remedial courses in college or extensive training to adapt to the workforce.

In February 2011, the Harvard Graduate School of Education released a the findings of the Pathways to Prosperity Project. The report advocates development of a comprehensive pathways network to serve youth in high school and beyond, including embracing multiple pathways to success for young people and asking our nation's employers to play an expanded role in supporting and providing opportunities for young people.
