Congratulations to the 2013 Futures for Kids Community Partner Award winners, and thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate with us! We had a great time at the NC Executive Mansion and were honored to have Lt. Gov Dan Forest join us to present the awards and read Governor McCrory's proclamation of May 15th as "Futures for Kids Day!" More pictures to come on our Facebook page

Last week's Futures for Kids Day at the Legislature went really well. We had the opportunity to share with many of our legislators, their staff and quite a few parents about the work Futures for Kids is doing in North Carolina. The ice cream sandwiches were also a hit--they suspended the rule preventing food on the House floor to take full advantage as Speaker Tillis walked up and down the aisles passing them out. Pictures are on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/FuturesforKids
A study by SAS EVAAS has documented the positive academic advantages for students using the Futures for Kids program. The study found higher End-of-Grade and End-of-Course scores among F4K participants than those of their peers, especially in STEM areas such as mathematics, with additional increases related to time and extent of participation.
