School Champion Resource Materials

Here are resources to assist educators in implementing F4K/Career Cruising Network. Click on the "Helpful Documents" section in your Career Cruising CAMS account for additional resources and classroom activities.

Student Materials (material that can be incorporated into lesson plans for career development and other discipline courses; the documents may be modified to fit your needs)

• Student Instructions for F4K/Career Cruising Network (provides students with instructions on how to navigate the basics of F4K/Career Cruising Network in one classroom period—schools not using our patterned portfolio username/password scheme and Course Planner schools using their school district portfolio login page will need to modify section one that explains the login procedure)
• Comparing My Favorite Careers (provides students with questions to answer about their career interests and sample questions to "Ask a Career Coach"—for use in conjunction with the Student Instructions)
• Student Instructions for Finding NCGP Mentors (provides students with directions on how to connect with a mentor for the NC Graduation Project using F4K/Career Cruising Network)

Work-based Learning Materials

• Employer Participation Request (recruit employers to get involved and share Work-Based Learning Opportunities with you and your students; includes information needed to sign them up or send to F4K)
• Job Shadow Assignment Form (helpful in arranging several job shadowing opportunities)
• Job Shadow Consent Form (ask students to get this or similar form signed by their parent/guardian before job shadowing)
• Job Shadow Evaluation (follow-up with students and employers)

School Website Materials (to link to F4K/Career Cruising login sites)

• Message for website hyperlink (In addition to our suggested messages to accompany the hyperlink icon to F4K/Career Cruising login sites, you will probably need to add a brief message explaining the use of the program at your school, which could include career exploration and course registration.)

Educator Materials

• Implementation Plan Template (recommended actions to help you achieve the maximum benefit from the Futures for Kids/Career Cruising as you develop your plan to best implement in your schools; please edit as necessary for your schools and review the Best Practices for suggestions on how to further customize your schools' implementation)
• Portfolio Completion Standards (use these recommendations to set up your Portfolio Completion Standards and contact John Shaw if you would like to set up uniform standards for students across your school system—uniform district standards will enable you to run completion reports on a district basis)
• Getting Started Instructions (tips on how to create student portfolios, how to create and manage advisor accounts, how to assign students to advisor groups, and how to print student access cards)
• Student Portal Overview (introduces educators and parents to the student portal)
• Student Portal Overview--Spanish (introduces Spanish-language version of the student portal)
• Parent Introduction Letter (publish in your PTSA newsletter or send home to parents on your letterhead to encourage them to participate in their child's career exploration and education planning)
• Technical Requirements (make sure your computers are set up for optimum performance with Career Cruising Network)
