F4K Expands Statewide Through Software Sale

Raleigh, NC—February 1, 2008- Futures for Kids (F4K) has announced plans to deliver its career exploration and workforce development software throughout North Carolina next year.

The sale of F4K’s software assets to Ontario-based partner Career Cruising has enabled the non-profit organization to expand its focus statewide. The acquisition also paves the way for the development of a fully integrated product combining F4K’s corporate and community connections with Career Cruising’s industry leading career exploration software. North Carolina educators and business leaders lauded the innovative partnership as an exciting development for the state’s students and business community.

“F4K will be able to reach more students across North Carolina, which is very exciting for businesses like ours that have supported F4K since its inception,” said Rusty Harris, President of PSNC Energy, a subsidiary of SCANA.

“We are extremely excited,” said Brenda Deese, Director of Student Services for Robeson County Schools. “I’ve seen our students become interested in school after talking with Career Coaches on F4K. The high school course planning available in Career Cruising will add greater relevance to the advice they’re getting from these coaches. It’s a win-win for our students!”

F4K is an online tool that allows middle and high school students to take an in-depth assessment, discover areas that appeal to them, and explore a variety of different careers. The cornerstone of the program connects students to professionals in careers they are interested in pursuing through virtual Career Coaches and local business contacts.  The program is currently being used in 21 school systems across the state and through this new partnership will be able to expand to reach over 660,000 students statewide.
