Futures for Kids
has been chosen as one of 60 programs across the state best equipped to
decrease the number of dropouts in North Caroilna.
Through the $150,000 grant from the NC General Assembly, F4K will focus on Durham, Hertford, Edgecombe and Richmond
counties, increasing training and usage of its program while evaluating
its impact on the students served. The personalized
career planning and first-person connections with
businesses and Career Coaches across the state help
students understand the relevance of school and the
importance of graduation in realizing their goals for
the future.
“Our students especially like talking with F4K’s Career Coaches,”
said Tomma Jenkins, Career and Technical Education
Director for Hertford County Schools. “It helps level
the playing field for students to be able to talk to
someone in a career they may not see here in Hertford
County.”
